I believe that the road is defiantly more than just a road I believe that it is also more then just life. It seems that it is a conglomeration of lives. No one single person can live without at least another. Lives always intersect and lead down paths one never thought possible. The road can never end, because it isn't finite it continues through others.

The Road is a warning to us in our world today. We care so much for technology and the military these days, our world could be turned into a war-torn place of ash and sorrow. It is more than just a road, it could be the future for our world. This novel is a heedful warning.

Must there necessarily be "symbolism" in the novel? I think if anything the "clues" in the book about the boy being god-like or Christ-like are part of the man's construction of his son as a kind of moral center, a living, breathing, reason to keep living. McCarthy is realistically showing us a way of thinking that, while a little crazy, we often use to ground ourselves. The truth is the road never does end it keeps on building and creating in different directions though the choices we make.

I think the road is not just a road. The road symbolizes the journey of ones life. No one ever really knows where their life will go. You can choose a road to take and it may be the right one or you can be choosing the wrong road. It is all about the choices in life you make and even the risks one can take. Different people take different roads, some are paths of achievement but then others are paths that can destroy ones life. My own personal road will never end, i will always be striving for more and taking chances and just to keep on living that way i will always be walking on "the road."

The road is without a doubt more than just your typical road that cars travel on and people travel through. The road has a different meaning to everyone, and everyone's road they travel on throughout their lives is different. The road keeps going on and on through the years and it will never stop. As long as people are living the road will be traveled on.

The road is not just a road. The road symbolizes something bigger. I believe the road doesn't end the road continuously goes on untill whatever the boy and the man are looking for. They will never find the same life they had before. The road is a path to something better in their minds, but in reality the road is a road to more struggle.

The road in "The Road" is not "just" a path to achievement, it is something greater. "The Road" in my eyes symoblizes the struggles and hardships the father and son go through to survive, for example when the father had to kill the man in front of his son, that has now become a burden on the boy and father because the son is kind of traumatized. My road would end when i could not go on any longer, and when my body just became weakened and shriveled.

I believe the road does not symbolize a simple road that cars and people pass by on. I think the road is more than that it is ones journey through life. You can chooose different roads or different paths in life some may be the wrong one, some may be a dead end, or some may be the right one. Some roads are for the better, and some for the worst. The road in life keeps going for as long as you keep going.

I believe "The Road" is a lot more than just a road that people travel on. I believe the road is a path to achievement. In my life right now, I am heading down a new road because I am heading off to college. My road or path right now is going to college and coming out of it with a full time job. My road will not end until I am deceased. I will always be taking new roads or paths throughout my life.

The road symbolizes a journey, a path to a new life. The road means more than just some asphalt on a ground but more so the start of a new beginning. The road is not just a path to achievement it is more of an expedition. If the book went from beginning to end and they were just driving past everything the book wouldn’t have a double meaning. My road would end when my quality of life starts to lose personal value.

I believe that the road in The Road symbolizes life and all the different people in it. Think about it, on the road, you dont see all the same cars, and every road isnt the same. The different roads symbolize lifes choices and which path you chose. Also the cars symbolize the different people in the world. The road in this case is their journey to survive, and go on with the rest of their lives. It is more than just a path to achievement, it is a path of decision, making the right choices instead of thinking of your popularity. My road would never end because I do believe that you carry on and your journey can never end, it may end physically on earth, but not spiritually.

I think the road symbolizes survival, I say this because the road leads to a better life for this young boy and his father. They can not survive at their previous place of residency so they need to leave. How did they leave they started an epic quest on “The Road” and they face many harsh times and scary moments along the way. I think my road is going to begin in September when I leave my safe haven of Norton Massachusetts where I know everyone and everything in my surroundings. But in September I will be leaving this safe haven for a new land across the country to a place I have never been “Hollywood” I think moving could change my life like the young son and his father because I know I will be caught up in many struggles and harsh times to survive in a new place. It is my beleif that the road in The Road is just that a road. It doesn't have to represent anything. In my opinion it is not the road that matter but the journey that takes place upon that road. It is a true example of symbolism from the novel and it represents the struggle to achieve a better life that we all go through in our everyday life. Is it not the American dream to become rich and powerful, not just to have these thing but to live a better life with you and your family. So in my opinion it is the journey not the road in The Road that symbolizes something.

I think that the road symbolizes their journey and how dangerous it is. Staying on the road for too long can result in being killed or harmed by other people traveling on it. They came across gang members and acts of cannibalism which threaten their lives which is why they are always on the move. The road can be looked at as a path to achievement because they are hoping to find a better place then where they are currently traveling. My road would probably end when I reached the end of the road and the place that the father and son intend to go. The world is in horrible condition and people resort to cannibalism for food.

I believe that The Road is a warning to our current day society and way of life. It could possibly be a somewhat reealistic forshadowing for a dark future as well. The Road represents a lifetime of traveling, struggle, relief, depression, and numerous emotions intertwined into one another. On the road, anything can happen, one person depends on another, and the road reflects a blindness to us all that this could indeed be our world somewhere down "the road."

I believe that The Road is much more than just a street or way that people travel. I think that The Road symbolizes a struggle that most people encounter in their lives and what it takes to get through it. The Road shows that it takes love and the support of family and friends to get through any hardship or a tough position.
